Tim Campbell, a student at Kingswood High School, joined the YCC in 2009. Tim has summered on Great East Lake for many years and brought genuine enthusiasm for water quality protection. Please read his note below.
Dear AWWA, At the beginning of last spring I began searching for a summer job. As it was the summer before my junior year I was looking to make some extra spending money. Then I came across this opportunity. This turned out to be more than just a summer job for me. I felt like I was really able to help make a difference in our environment and keep our local lakes clean (keep phosphorus out of the water). It was much more meaningful than flipping burgers or scooping ice cream. I also enjoyed the team chemistry we make during the summer. There were days during the summer that were brutally hot and directly under the surface of the ground were huge roots/rocks. These were the days we had to pull together to get through, but we made it. One day remains clear in my memory. We were on Thanks Again, Tim Campbell |
