Now more than ever is a time to reflect on the purpose of Earth Day. To remind us that we only have one planet and that we all have a role in protecting it. The COVID-19 crisis has taught us two important things about humanity: 1) that we are truly vulnerable to unexpected catastrophe, and 2) that we are capable of unifying, globally, around catastrophe to address a singular challenge. We were not prepared for a pandemic, but there is still time to prepare for and meet the challenge of keeping the Earth clean and healthy for the generations that follow us. We all play our small role and this does make a big difference. AWWA will continue to play its role by protecting the health of our lakes, and I know you will play your role in protecting our planet as well, however you can.
